Telekinetic Dystopian Fantasy, anyone?
For the telekinetic youth of New Teotihuacan's Worker City there are two choices: an enslaved life or a free death. By sixteen, everyone must choose.
Calli Bluehair's only hope of escaping a violent death in the self-indulgent underground of Worker City is the government-run Masa Academy. Choosing to ignore the rumors that the Academy is an option worse than death, Calli determines to claw her way onto the registry and take her brother, Olin, with her.
When, only days before registration, Olin is thrown into a state of telekinetic shock capable of detonating half of Worker City, Calli is forced to seek help from an infamous crime lord or risk losing her future and her only remaining family. It turns out that many have intentions for the uniquely gifted siblings and survival may no longer be enough.
Brown's page-turning, dystopian adventure revolves around a heroine who must maintain her humanity in the midst of monstrous decisions. His vivid rendering of telekinesis births a complex, mysterious, and provocative world that reveals itself to the reader in a kaleidoscope of detail the longer one chooses to stare through his fractured lens. The Green Ones series is a mix of The Hunger Games, Ready Player One, and Ender’s Game.
Outburst is the first Season of The Green Ones. It consists of six episodes that are all around fifty pages. The storylines of these episodes explores the Worker City half of New Teotihuacan and what it is like to live as a Chadzitzin (working dead). Chadzitzin are youth who are actively infected (not just passive carriers) with the Twitch retrovirus. The virus unleashes telekinetic abilities at the same time it rapidly accelerates cell division and leads to a terrible, cancerous death along with a total loss of sanity that typically erupts into telekinetic disintegration by the time one turns twenty-five years old.
Outburst is available for Pre-Order on Amazon between now and April 25th at the discount price of $2.99.
After April 25th, the book will revert to its normal $4.99. That means you have a few weeks to snag the insider price! (And who doesn’t love being an insider?)
The best part about writing The Green Ones
has been the ability to explore the unknown potential of the human mind. It’s crazy to think of the possibilities that may exist inside our own thick skulls, if only we knew how to tap into them. I love the opportunity as a writer to 1) play around with what we might choose to do if we had telekinetic abilities and 2) describe via the written word what the process might feel like.
What if brain waves had a spectrum much like the electromagnetic spectrum? What if these waves could be tracked? Piggy-backed? Harnessed? What if energy and thoughts weren’t so different from each other?
These are the kinds of mental exercises that get me revved up as a writer. I ask all these questions and many more in The Green Ones. Would siblings be able to mimic each other’s frequencies and therefore read each other’s minds?
In The Green Ones, I introduce a pair of siblings who must learn on the fly how to master the deadly arts of telekinetic warfare without losing their humanity and without pledging allegiance to players on the wrong side of the game. To take the whole thing one level deeper into the Schism 8 inferno, these elite warriors will pop up in other Schism 8 series. But they won’t always be the good guys.
